the secret's out

okay, it wasn't really a secret, but it has been a week since it happened
what is it, this big news???
yep, you guessed it, andrea and i are engaged!!!
it actually happened a week ago this saturday, but we both needed a week to let our families know and for the news to soak in before i blogged about it

here's the short story,

on saturday morning, i picked andrea up from her apartment and we started driving to the coast, until that morning, she did not know what we were doing, so i told her that we were going whale watching off the coast of the tiny town of Moss Landing (just north of Monterey), which she was very excited about

i already posted about the whale watching, it was awesome and we were able to see many different animals, including an enormous humpback whale

after the boat trip, we drove from Moss Landing to Carmel, Carmel is better know for its beautiful beaches, restaurants, art galleries, golf courses (Pebble Beach), and generally laid back way of life

we walked down to the beach, me with my guitar in hand to relax and enjoy the sunny weather, we found a spot on the fine white sand, sat down, and began to sing a few of our favorite praise songs, just as we were finishing a song, i was feeling the moment was right and was about to get down on my knees, but no, a guy walks up to us and tries to hand me a $5 bill, when i didn't take it, he proceeded to push it into the sand and walked away with his friends, telling us that he better not see the money when he walked back by

okay, so i'm thinking that we can celebrate with coffee, and maybe if i play a few more songs, it might pay for dinner, i'm just kidding

thrown off by the fact that i just got paid for worshipping, i canned the proposal for a few minutes and played another song, gathering my nerves once again and focusing on the task at hand

after we stopped singing, i walked behind andrea, put my guitar away, pulled the ring out of my pocket, walked to face andrea, kneeled on both knees, and asked the love of my life for her hand in marriage

of course, she said yes, we kissed, i sat down next to her, and we both sat speechless for what seemed like 20 minutes, but was probably more like 30 seconds, it was perfect, just as i had imagined, the right place, the right mood, the right moment, the right woman, ahh. . . . i'm good

so, this is where it all happened on the beach
this picture was taken at sunset, a few hours after the engagement

this is me, cool as a cat and grinning from ear to ear just after it happened

andrea, expressing her inner joy

the rock, just one, you guess how big

the happy couple

It was a great day. Myron, you did an excellent job of catching me off guard. You were really acting so normal I didn't think it would happen. :)

Not sure how I feel about the dorky picture of me being stupid on your blog... but that's ok!

Ponchy we hope you can come! That'd be great. :)
