What happens in Mexico gets written about here . . . .

As we wait for another flight, this time to Iowa,
what better time to get some pics out from our recent trip
to Mexico with VetMerge.
During our two weeks down there, we saw more than 1,000 animals
and made connections with dozens of local farmers and townspeople.
Many of you may have received a letter before our trip asking
for prayers and support and we thank you for remembering us.

We flew from Sacramento to the city of Monterrey

in the state of Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

The city is surrounded by mountains of which this one is the most famous.

If you can guess what it is called, you get 2 free tickets to Hawaii.

Hint: It has to do with the shape
We then drove to the small, rural town of Derramadero for our two weeks.

These kids came everyday to the kids program at the church

that Andrea organized.

Last year, we went to their house and jumped on their trampoline with them.

I was amazed that the fence behind us was actually growing,

and it had a ton of thorns.

They should plant this stuff around the California prisons.

It's cheap, drought tolerant, and unforgiving . . . .

My humble steed. Let's just say I'm not exactly a cowboy,

but I could pretend for two weeks, right?

It is one of the greatest needs in Mexico and we were able to castrate 7 horses,

2 sheep, and 1 burro. The guy on the head is Joel,

one of the volunteer missionaries that spent the first week with us.

Andrea made 145 cupcakes for the last day of the childrens program.

They had an Easter egg hunt, and then decorated cupcakes afterwards.

This is just one of the two rooms with kids, about 60 in all.

It was great to have so much help . . . even Andrea helped hold instruments for me . . .
